Completed projects / 3 Wells in Massa Village, Sierra Leone

Completed June 2012

The people of Massa (Pujeh) now have three new efficient wells, delivering sufficient water for the entire community. The pumps that we have provided are robust and easy to maintain and the water supply is reliable. Project Restore Water was completed in June 2012.

The community of Massa was devastated by the loss of its pumps/wells.  WellBoring's delivery partner Alive & Well have provided a safe, reliable water supply in sufficient quantity so that they are no longer reliant on the river source which is contaminated with a range of diseases and which has caused the death of many children over the years.

Our Sierra Leone delivery partner Alive & Well have also instigated the following besides drilling the wells and providing the pumps:

  1. The crew monitor the wells by visits throughout the year in each of the seasons: Start and end of the dry season in particular to ensure that there is a constant supply of safe water.
  2. Maintenance rounds – the crew travel around the villages where we have sunk wells and maintain the India Mk 2 pumps
  3. The community has been shown how to keep their wells disease free.
