Life-saving concert sets new record

Chippenham’s Town Hall reception was buzzing as the WellBoring Concert seemed to be a sell-out. Friday’s concert featured world-music choirs Lingmara and Cause Chorus.

Over £2,000 was raised in ticket sales and donations towards a well for Oyola School, Kenya, and customers of Rivo Lounge recently donated over £600 to the same cause. “Working together the people of Chippenham can help to change lives as far away as Kenya. This is a record for a single WellBoring concert”, says Nigel Linacre, Chair of WellBoring.

Oyola will be the 9th school-centred community to get a WellBoring water solution in 2016, making this a record year for the popular Chippenham charity, which has now provided 20 water solutions across Africa. The provision of clean water in schools leads to a fall in illness of three-quarters, sharply reducing deadly diseases like cholera and typhoid.

“We’re delighted to help to make a difference” says Lingmara Musical Director Tony Barby. The international theme continues as Lingmara Choir fly out to Freiburg in Germany on Friday 30th September for its second international tour, following its successful tour of Lithuania last year.
